Brockenbrough transseptal left heart catheterization

Abstract
The transseptal method of left heart catheterization described first by Ross is now widely used and is generally considered to be the method of choice for hemodynamic assessment of mitral and aortic valve disease. Improvements in the equipment and technique for transseptal left. heart catheterization appear to have largely overcome the major problems and complications. Brockenbrough modification of the transseptal technique has been adopted in our laboratory and a few experiences of which with a brief description is given below.
